Polyester is a terrible fabric: it doesn't breathe, it doesn't stretch, it looks cheap, and it stinks with slightest bit of perspiration. Makes me wonder if those 70s discos smelled of BO.

Yes, I knowworked for an auto parts store in the early '80s that had polyester pants as part of the uniform. Sweat like a pig in the summer and freeze your ass off in the winter.

The discos reeked of cigarette smoke. Smoking hadn't been banned yet.
I'll always remember how much I reeked of it later.
There was a place I went to with a big exhaust fan that blew horizontally across the parking lot. You could see the plume of smoke coming out of the building like this big horizontal geyser.

The advantage of polyester was that it was wrinkle free.
Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.

Bingo! The leisure suit marketing was that you could simply fold it and put it in your suitcase.take it out and wear it wrinkle free. Polyster didn't affect me so much, but platform shoes??? Yikes.

It stretches more than cotton, and cheaper and easier to clean than wool. Plus you could print wild designs.

I bet the discos smelled like BO, smoke, Charlie perfume, Brut cologne plus the added cache of split whiskey and vomit.

Longevity and cost. It’s best used within a mix.
