I hate that they NEVER explained this! After Mr. Drummond married Maggie, Willis still slept in his original room with Arnold, but the year before he went to college and Kimberly left for Paris, they slowly eased SAM into the room with Arnold (You could see the "WJ" initials on the toy shelf suddenly change to "SM" Sam's initials)
SO where was Willis? Kimberly was STILL there for a while and had her room until she left for Paris. Sam slept in Arnolds roomWHERE DID WILLIS sleep during that season before he left for college?????
I re-watched some episodes to On Demand to figure this out and they NEVER explain it and it's so annoying.
There was an episode where Kimberly is gone, and Sam invites a female friend over for a sleepover and Mr. Drummond, concerned that Sam's pal is a GIRL says "She can sleep in Kimberly's room" (which means even though Kimberly is gone, it is STILL her room and vacant!) But Sam protests and gets Drummond to let the friend sleep in Arnolds bed
SO THEN they have a mini sub plot where Arnold sleep with Willis BUT THEY NEVER SAY WHERE WILLIS sleeps! He's not in Kimberly's room, (and why didn't Arnold Sleep in Kimberly's vacant room? it was offered to Sam's friend, why not Arnold?)
There's a scene where Willis complains that Arnold has to sleep "In Willis's room" and he left crumbs in the bed and then Arnold laughs that sleeping in the same room as Willis and annoying him is "Just like old times" but WHERE is this MAGICAL room that was never there before?
So I then notice whenever Willis refers to going to his room, He emerges from the entrance to where PEARL'S bedroom is next to the kitchen, under the stairs! When Arnold emerges from that area he's talking about staying in Willi's roomand then in a different episode Willis says "I'll be in my bedroom" and again, retreats to the area where Pearl's room is! But PEARL is still there and ALSO refers to her OWN bedroom.
Where did this sudden extra room come from? There were NUMEROUS episodes where they STRESSED that there were NO other bedrooms (like when Mr. Drummonds relatives from Holland visit or when Willis needed a private room to study) Why didn't Willis take Kimberly's room? Why didn't ARNOLD take Kimberly's room while she was in Paris?
I just hate that they never addressed that a new bedroom was made for Willis. They always explained these things on Facts of Life. Like when they adopted Andy they did explain that they had made a makeshift bedroom behind the boiler room near the kitchen. Then when Pippa moved in, they gave her and Andy the pace where the store used to be.

The answer is pretty obvious. Willis and Pearl were knockin boots.

I know in the first ep when Sam moved in they put a cot in the bedroom. Also when Maggie and Mr. Drummond come back from their honeymoon they asked Pearl to leave and go stay with her mother for a short while so they can make more room.
We do know that the penthouse was huge; however they made it quite clear in previous eps that it only had the 4 bedrooms. Perhaps he used Mr. Drummond's office/library or perhaps the viewers are supposed to believe that it did in fact have more than 4 bedrooms, contradicting previous seasons (which would really make more sense in a place that big). Also I think in some eps it could have been loosely implied that Willis was away at school. I know he wasnt in every ep in S6, however I believe by then it was established that he went to college, see below.
Kimberly did not go away to Paris until S7. So in S6 her room was not vacant (although she was not seen in every ep). The final ep with Kimberly as a main character was the S6 season finale. Her bedroom could have been used in S7 for Willis. If the place only had 4 bedrooms and she was abroad it would have made the most sense to use her room during S7.
Another odd plot contradiction is that in S8 he is a freshman in college, yet in previous seasons he was already attending college (I think since at least S6). I remember there is an ep in S8 when he moved into a dorm.

If Drummond was as rich as they claimed he could've rented out a smaller place in the same building just for Willis! Or maybe he just slept on a cot in the hallway! LOL
Regardless Drummond had plenty of money to get Willis sleeping accommodations!

I also remember a VERY early episode where Arnold wanted to hide from Mr. Drummond so he wouldn't get punished, so he hid in the HOT TUB that was in this weird random room somewhere on the top floor. I always wondered if that was Mr. D's private bathroom, but it was HUGE. It was never mentioned or shown again.
I guess we were just supposed to suspend reality and believe there was suddenly a bedroom next to Pearl's somewhere behind the kitchen.

I guess it's not unprecedented to mess with the established house layout. On the Brady Bunch in an early episode they claimed the attic was too small to turn into a bedroom for Greg, but later in the series what do they do? Turn the attic into a room for Greg! lol

Willis was in high school during season 7 as shown on the episode Undercover Lover. Weird on the bedroom addition. Maybe he got the old hot tub room.

I'm pretty sure Willis either took up residence in an extra guest room or Kimberly's old room. Not that hard to figure out.
When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

But there wasn't an extra guestroom. past episodes made that perfectly clear. There was one episode where Willis needed to study, but he couldn't concentrate in his bedroom with Arnold. They clearly stated there was no other room for Willis to go, so Mr. Drummond bunked with Arnold and Willis used Mr. Drummonds room to study for a few days. Had there been a guest room, Willis would have studied there. Also, whenever guests came over, they would conveniently have Pearl be "out of town" so the guest had her bedroom..again, because there was no OTHER bedroom. Regarding Kimberly's room, Mr. Drummond mentioned a few times "Kimberly's room is empty" when guests would stay over. Meaning Willis was not occupying that room. This is why I asked the questionThere were too many times that they mentioned there was not enough bedrooms.

Very late reply here, but I watched Hooray for Hollywood Part 2 today and Arnold asked this same question of Mr D.
Arnold: "Just wondering where we'll put all these people. We'll have to put a revolving door on the bathroom."
Mr 😧 "Oh don't worry we'll figure something out. Maybe we'll add on a room for Willis."
Willis: "Oh man that's great! I finally struck privacy!"
Mr 😧 "And Sam can share your room with you Arnold."
Arnold: "Oh. But Dad, you're breaking up the old team. Willis would be lost without me."
