I am referring to the second-to-last episode of season seven, when Arnold got mugged. It was actually Gary Coleman’s only writing credit. This especially makes the episode’s unavailability such a shame, since, besides being everyone’s doormat, the actor was treated like merely nothing more than a silly catch phrase.

There was a severe flu outbreak going on at the time and not enough extras available on set.
In one of the more controversial scenes they had to borrow background actors from Who's the Boss which was filming in the lot next door because they couldn't afford to delay filming without impacting the broadcast schedule. Unfortunately the only extras they could find on such short notice were all white. The producers decided to go ahead and shoot the scene anyway with most of them wearing blackface.
It wasn't a big deal at the time but obviously the decision aged poorly and they pulled the episode from syndication and home video.

The episode where Kimberly wore blackface in order to teach her racist boyfriend a lesson after he forbid his sister to go out with Willis, is not available either. That I can understand.

I see nothing wrong with blackface.
