There have been many favorite episodes. "Turkey's Away was great and others that stick out in my mind:
"A commercial Break" The WKRP staff writes the jingle, and produces a radio commercial for Ferryman's Funeral Home. I love the lyrics:
    Hey, you're young and swingin'
No time to think about tommorow
But someday, you can't deny it
    Someday you're gonna buy it
Ferryman, Ferryman, He's the man with the plan
A man you can trust; Ferryman, Ferryman.
Ubnfortunatley, that's all I can remember, since it's been years since I've seen it. Anybody else remember it??? And it ends with thwm singing, "bye bye".
"Real Families" Another one of my favoeites. ait didn't seem like a typical episode, since they were making it look like Real Families, is an actual show.
If I remember correctly, the turkeys from the "Turkeys away" episode comes backs and haunts Herb in this episode and when they talk about the dancing ducks Herb set up at business storefront and the ASPCA guy describes the ducks jitterbugging and how the ducks did it can have me on the ground rollling.

I like the one where they come up with an idea for a contestA money giveaway and the cram five songs that no one would ever guess into a really short montage and someone almost guesses it on the first try..Can't recall much more but I think someone guessed it.
The turkey episode is great and I like when Jennifer moved into her house and the piano gets away.
I always thought the shows title kept it from being a bigger hit. It was too much like crap of course and 1978 was a different time. Today with a title like that it would have got more attention cause pop culture is such trash these days

          The jingle goes:
          Hey, you're young and swingin'
No time to think about tomorrow
But there ain't no way to deny it
          Someday, you're gonna buy it
Plan today for a Ferryman tomorrow
          Ferryman, Ferryman
He's the man with the plot, the man with the plan
          Ferryman, Ferryman
He's the mortician man who loves you a lot
          Oo-ooh, oo-ooh, oo-ooh, oo-ooh
          Bye bye
LOL, and that's off the top of my head.
You can find the jingle (and the second version Herb used to land the Morrison Tire Company account) on this site with lots of other sound clips. Near the bottom of the page.

I can't tell you how many times, random time during the day, that jingle pops into my head.
The only line that you didn't write down that I can remember is a take off on "the man with the plan""he's the man with the plot, the man with the plan"
Great jingle and episode. I loved seeing Bailey sing.

                    Turkey's Away- without a doubt.
Besides the 'As god is my witness, I.." the other great line includes:
Les: (with apologies to the Hindenberg) They're hitting the ground like bags of wet cement.. Oh the humanity of it.."""
the funniest dang thing ever shown on television

                      The Turkey episode.
Les's line where he slowly read the banner that said WKRP, while Johonny was impatiently waiting for him to just SAY IT, and Carlson's "Turkey's could fly" line, were too great!!!

Wow! I can't believe only a few people have named Tornado as they're favorite! I've seen all 90 Episodes and think Tornado is the best!!! It has comedy and it has drama (with the little girl on the phone who's home alone) it's a very good episode!! LOL
WKRP is truly one of the best sitcoms of all time!
We can DO IT ALLLL DAY LONG, (We'll have to pay more for the light bill if we do it at night!)

"Turkeys Away" is my favorite too. Another favorite that had me laughing hard was "An Explosive Affair (Part 1 & 2). This is the episode where the radio station gets a bomb threat from a terrorist group, forcing Johnny and Venus to broadcast their show safely from a transmitter. What I loved about this episode was Johnny's paranoia that the "Phone Cops" was out to get him. lol.

I also liked the one where some scummy photographer took naked pictures of Jennifer when she was changing clothes and Johnny and Bailey ('Ginger Grigg') had to go get the photos back.
I loved the interactions between Mama Carlson and her butler Hersh.
I always laugh when I hear 'Chances Are' by Johnny Mathis, because in the one where Les takes Jennifer out, and they end up at his place, he asks her if she would like to hear a record and he goes over to his turntable, and there's a big wire record rack with only 'a record' in it. and his one record was Johnny Mathis.
                                  Some memorable quotes:
                                  'Soap you can see through!'
Q: 'Where do these stairs lead?' A:'Up.'
                                  'Community Green Belt'
                                  'Silver Sow Award'
                                  'attle-minded and obtuse'
'He's a hard worker, loyal family man, and all-around great guy!'
                                  'Disco is.'
AND, I totally remember that funeral home episode, and the 'Hey! You're young and swingin' - no time to think about tomorrow' song.
                                  and nobody beats The Riz!

Wow! You guys are amazing. It's been a quarter of a century since many of those episodes aired and you remember them in greater detail than I would have thought possible.
I had the great fortune of working on the show and writing some of the episodes you've talked about hereAn Explosive Affair and Filthy Pictures. (How do you know the titles since we never broadcast them?)
It's really too bad that there will never be a legal DVD collection because of the music rights issue. There would be a real demand for it, I believe. Notice I said a "legal" collection because there are bootleg ones all over e-Bay. No residuals for us in those, but at least people can still see the show.
                                    Thanks for the memories!

What an honor to be able to say you worked on such a wonderful show!
I have a bootleg set out of desperation, but I would buy up a legal set in a heartbeat, as I'm sure many others would.
By the by, I know that you were with Just the Ten of Us, which also featured work from Frank Bonner (of whom I'm a big fan). Would love to see that show on DVD, as well.

Yes, my partner and I co-created Just the Ten of Us. The network wanted a "Growing Pains" spin off, but we weren't willing to spin any of our regulars off. But Bill Kirchenbauer had made many appearances as Mike's drama teacher, the hapless P.E. coach who ended up substituting for just about any class, including French, (even though he didn't speak it). He was a very funny man and we decided to create an outside life for him and make that the new show.
We are presently trying to convince Warner Bros. TV to release Just the Ten of Us on DVD. I'm amazed that people still talk about it all these years later, but there does seem to be a market for it.
