I remember an episode where Herb disappears, and they find him in a 3D adult theater. I don't know how the scene ever got past the censors, but it's absolutely HILARIOUS! Does anyone remember which episode this is in?

It got past the censors because it was the show was on TV during the late 70's/early 80's before the prude revolution that kicked in a few years later and is still with us today.
This isn't the only example from WKRP.
Go back and watch the episode "Les on a Ledge." This episode first aired in 1978 and is full of jokes about transexuals, gay men, etc.
In fact, that episode has ended up undergoing a bit of censorship in recent years. In the original version, broadcast in 1978 and in syndication into the mid 80's, Herb uses the term "homo." The joke was that he thought he was being gracious, without realizing he was making the situation at hand worse.
In subsequent syndicated versions, and in both the original DVD release and the current Shout Factory DVD release, the word "homo" is changed to "gay." This substitution wipes out the joke and makes the other characters reaction seem rather odd and makes no sense. But prudish times call for prudish measures, I guess.

What is it going to take to leave things alone? That was the times. That's how it was. Changing it to where it doesn't make sense Well, makes no sense. Showing Herb as the bafoon he could be is lost when they follow the rules of being PC.
