is the effort of authenticity. Look at the promo posters in the background, the jackets for the records being played. I also like how after Lennon died there is an image of him in the booth, and it's not always the same one. My father was in radio for nearly 40 years beginning in 1973. I can say this TV show is a snapshot of how radio really was at that time. Back before heavy-handed formatting the personalities got to play what they wanted.

It is an authentic show where the details mattered. One of the things I love about the dj booth is the each poster or image. Good post. 🙂

I still watch this and see new things and enjoy it immensely. This is a great re-watchable sitcom, I mean what other show would reference Ward Bond? The unspoken running gags alone make this worthwhile. The serious undertones sprinkled throughout are brilliant. One of the best shows of all time. Not sure why it was accidentally cancelled after all the effort put into it. I heard the "suits" at MTM just forgot to put it on the new schedule. What kind of BS is that?

Didn't Mary Tyler Moore herself dislike the show?

If that's true, I wonder what she could possibly dislike here.

The show was definitely quite hip and maybe a little irreverent in the late 70's and early 80's. It may have also been that Johnny Fever said 'booger' quite a few times. I'm not sure, but maybe it just wasn't what she considered quality entertainment. So many executives didn't believe in the show either. I think Hugh Wilson was about ready to end the show anyways after season four. Too much of a struggle?
