Insanely overrated

HALLOWEEN wasn't made for people who WANT to see people get killed. It's designed for people who are afraid of seeing people killed.
Very well said. The majority of these types of movies are garbage exactly for this reason. The good movies concentrate on the humans, the bad ones on the gore. A lot of fans just watch these films for the killings, but the ones that grasp storytelling, atmosphere and characterization will get more out of certain films.

Agreed, but a lot of people compare it to the past 3 decades of horror, not realizing simpler times, simpler methods and lazily slap an overrated label on it to make themselves feel better.

I really don't know how you could find it overrated or slow, as in boring slow. I happen to love slow paced films. I just saw The Force Awakens at my second run theater, and it was like watching a 2 hour trailer. Ridiculous ADD pacing.
I love the sleepy feel of the day half of the film. The creepiness of Michael stalking the girls builds and builds for me. This is his the story had to be told. There's not too many plot points in the first half of the film.
As for it being overrated, I just don't see it as that, as most people. The tone is perfect with boogeyman theme. It's executed perfectly. It's the little things like Loomis' terrific lines, which would probably go over a typical slasher fan's head.
This movie has soul. -

Thanks CJ. I did have a nice Easter with family and ate some good food. Hope yours was nice as well.
BTW Are you gonna see any classics in theaters this year? I'm seeing Willy Wonka, Planet of the Apes, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Ferris Bullers Day Off, The Shining and On the Waterfront.
