Well that's something we can definitely agree onthough I would hardly describe myself as a
deep thinker
.
But since by your own suggestion you may be light in thought, you should really refrain from casually suggesting those who aren't put "too much" thought into their responses.
Particularly when it's in answer to a post that itself was lengthy, detailed and multi layered in the points it was making. A post that by it's very nature required a thoughtful and - by your standards - lengthy response.
If you're not up to constructing such discussion, best say nothing rather than start making amateur critiques of those who are.
It's interesting that you don't suggest TCCPhreak put in too much thoughtand even more interesting that you
encouraged
me to respond.
Was that purely so you could chirp in with a feeble, pointless comment about what I then said?
I have more things to think about than some long winded response over a 40 year old movie.
Yes I can imagine.
More things being just about every thread on that same cycle of boards you gravitate to on a daily basis.
You see, I only post now and again. Only when I feel I have something to add or bring to the discussion. That enables me the time and occassion to give a detailed response when I feel the desire.
I do not do an obsessive daily round on a specific cluster of boards like a demented milkman, chirping in mundane comments on scores of threads that add little to the topic, like -
Funny Barn
Agreed Sim
OR
Interesting Kurt- simply for the sake of it.
Peppering the boards with such "short and succinct" comments really does nothing for the discussion other than take up space.
I'm sure you've heard of quality over quantity..well, almost sure.
I do not have an obsessive, pathological craving to get involved in every thread and register the last post in each discussion.
That's why all my replies are short and succinct.
And as a result, not infrequently irrelevant.

Not really. I can knock out a response like that in a matter of minutes.
And TCCPhreak wrote at just as much length yet escaped your
lols/my favourite line jibe/far too much thought
snipes, all of which came accross to me as just a tad patronizing and seemed more preoccupied with the character of my writing than the subject in debate.
Amateur critiquing. That's what I do. Certainly not pointless.
Utterly pointless in this instance because you added nothing to discussion, addressed none of the points TCCPhreak raised but merely made flippant remarks about the manner and style of my response - a response that was directly engaging the many points raised in his initial post.
You're starting to be pompous again. That's not a side of you I like, Sim.
There are several sides of you I might not like either. Perhaps you would do better to actually engage the subject when you insist on responding to me rather than make witless digs at the nature of my response.
Try that and we might get along fine.

Well the fact that you asked Simest to "handle" this for you is the difference. I agree with him, as it looks like you baited him into this just so you could come back with some sort of remark about what he has to say about it like you always do. It's either, "You put way too much thought into it" or "You have an answer for everything."

was your own admission that you lack the capacity to construct such a post or respond to one with any measure of thought or reasoning.
Which some of us already knew..and which is fine so long as you don't make thinly veiled jibes at those who can.
And the difference it makes is that it highlights your hypocrisy and intent by making no derogatory remarks about TCC's lengthy post, encouraging me to respond and then making jibes about how my response to his is overthought, long winded etc.
When the first line of your response is
"That's what I was looking for! Lol."
, that tells me a lot and reveals your focus and intent was more about scrutinising me than the subject under discussion.
In this case it seems, to derive some odd personal amusement.
You can expect to be challenged when you engage people this way.

Those two quotes - your own words - strongly imply that you lack the capacity to construct the kind of detailed, thought invested posts for which you are aiming jibes at others.
If you like to make brief, minimalist posts without going into too much detail, that's fine as I appreciate not everyone likes to analyse things too deeply.
But when you start being smug toward those who do, then your inability to contribute in any real depth also becomes fair game for analysis.

I have a better grasp on Halloween than you ever will, and my theories are sound.
If you want to believe that Myers cooking a dog, and that he somehow managed to attach rope to a closed door and

it open (something that's physically impossible) are both sound theories, then by all means, knock yourself out. But it's not unreasonable for someone to doubt those theories.

No, no. He's taking quotes out of context and rejiggering them for his own purposes. And calling me dumb, even insinuating it, is where I draw the line. You can doubt my theories all you want. I doubt yours and his, and we all doubt this person's or that person's. That's what makes imdb great. But, being an arrogant, pompous, jerk, and calling my knowledge of this film, and certainly my intellect into question, tears it. If he apologizes, I'll take him off the list, because usually, I'm a fan of SIM.

And yes that is what makes imdb great. But you also have to be able to handle it when someone disagrees with you. Look at the Nancy Loomis discussion. You can't even handle it when other people think she's attractive. Look at the problems you have when someone doesn't like II.

Right. I'm not a deep thinker, and problems expressing myself at times. All true. But, that doesn't mean I'm not intelligent, or smart or whatever. Just that, there's no need to waste brain power over thinking 40 year old movies. There are more important things to use brain power for. Reading books, doing cross word puzzles, Jeopardy. Lol. If he wants to sit there over analyzing things, even if he types it out quickly, so be it. That's not my style, and it doesn't make me dumb, because I like to be in and out quickly. Insert sex joke here, Barn. He said I didn't have the "capacity", by the way, which means intelligence. So, he did in fact call me dumb, hence the list. As far as Loomis goes, because she's ugly! I don't mind you finding her attractive, I guess. I'm more appalled that you think she's the MOST attractive in the movie. Not even close.
