I just remember how terrifying it was seeing Michael's mask.

I saw it on TV when I was 10 or 11. Then when I was old enough I rented it and I did think it was boring and mostly got into it when the night scenes began. I appreciate it more now and seeing on the big screen it flows, no matter how well I know it I don't fall asleep or get bored. Always something new to see or hear.

Me too, for some reason it really bored me first time around. Now I cannot imagine my life without it! It sits 7th on my top 10, and having to wait a full year for October 31st to come along to I can watch it is painful. Both physically and mentally. Last year I caved and watched it in April. Then again in June. And of course on Halloween night. This year I've made it! Almost. I bet i'll end up caving and watching it October 30th or something, and then again on Halloween night. But so far I've done rather well.

Why did it bore you the first time, you think?

I wish I knew haha. It's always baffled me, especially as I love it as much as I do now (Which is a hell of a lot) but it just didn't work for me at first. I've only ever met one person who also found it boring first time, and I just tell them to chance it again. Sometimes a film takes a couple of go's to click. Glad I gave this another go.

Music can be that way for me. I remember buying the Best of Van Halen, and Panama, and Jump, songs I knew I loved. But the other tracks? Meh. But, I listened to it again later, and I enjoyed more and more songs.

When was the first time you watched Halloween and what impact did it have on you?
I don't remember specifics - I was seven or eight at the time, I'd say - other than it was on VHS and I liked it immediately. I'd seen Halloween II first, probably also on VHS, so I'd wanted to see what'd gone on before.

I saw it first, has to be 10, or less. I remember the music. Scared the crap out of me, as a kid.

I sadly never was able to watch its entirety until my late 20's, when I'd already become a cinephile with vhs & dvds & countless film rewatches.
I remember being gloriously locked in with its snuff film like opening credits + score, & loved how pared down & simple it all played, never pandering to shock or blood.

I saw it at the Barclay Square Theater in Upper Darby, Pa. in 1978, as a VERY young boy, and all I remember is Bob hanging upside-down, and thinking that the Devil took Michael underground after he was shot. I also remember seeing an old deceased friend of mine watching the screen with his hands clutched together, and his eyes wide open. Only a year later, I would watch Mr. Barlow in 1979!

I first watched Halloween around 2006. I always loved my horrors but I hadn't started watching the oldies until then.
I remember the misical score freaking me out while the film had me completely fascinated with the build up to the climax. I was on the edge of my seat cause I knew the big confrontation was coming. And man is the final scenes spooky. They still are.

I was 7 years old when I saw it on VHS recorded from tv (extended cut).
Michael's white mask was so traumatic to look at.

I saw this on a rainy October Saturday afternoon in 1990, the music, the atmosphere, and overall dark theme is what I remember but overall the ending was what shocked me. 10 years old at that time, and it kick started my horror movie addiction during my teenage years
