Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Martin

I just wanted to mention the irony of the ending.
Martin's cousin had no real proof Martin was a killer (Vampire) until the Death of Mrs. Santini (Martin's girlfriend). Ironically she was the one death not caused by Martin in the movie.

I thought the ending was brilliant, and yes it was very ironic.
Nosferatu. Vampire! First I will save your soul, then I will destroy you.

It was a good way to end the film, considering where the story was going, the engaging anti-hero, plus the budget as well, the constraints of the story needed to be pushed for such a small film with a small cast.
Its a shame, this film should be discussed more.

There's a podcast by AV Club on horror movie recommendations, and one of the reviewers said that
            Martin
's got "the greatest ironic ending [he] can think of" which made me want to watch it.
I just finished watching it and the ending was ironic all right, the sort of ending you'd expect in a Twilight Zone episode,
the killer getting the blame for the one person he
            didn't
            kill.

I absolutely love the bleakly ironic to this film. Poor Martin was killed for a murder that he didn't commit by his raving lunatic of a religious fanatic uncle.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
