Yep, definitely my favorite vampire movie. Absolutely the most realistic and believable one.

i loved this movie, but there is still a question in my head, is there really a family curse? and if there is what exactly is it? i mean Martin wants to drink the blood, but does he have to? he says it makes him shake and fumble about when he doesnt drink it but do u think he would die from not drinking?

I recently bought a canceled check on ebay from Romero's old production company The Laurel Group of Pittsburgh that was signed by George Romero and John A. Russo (co-wrote NOTLD) to pay for production costs on the film Martin Thought it was a pretty cool item to buy and frame.

I'm not even sure this is a horror movie. It is brilliant but hard to categorize. Rust belt tragedy, maybe? Certainly drama. George Romero's brilliance is on full display here.

I'm not sure it counts as a vampire movie since I don't think Martin was really a vampire.

i really did enjoy this movie and would consider it a vampire movie
it deserves a higher rating than 7.0 because well, 7 , that's ridiculous

I didn't know a thing about this film until yesterday afternoon - saw it in a dvd sale - saw romeros name - read some good revies in the bookshop next door - bought it - watched it - LOVED it !!! - I'd lump it in with Cronos and The Addiction in my fave 'realistic' vampire movies - respect Romero even more than I already did - how come this isn't some well known classic? And how come the Martin guy didn't become a cult star? - gonna buy The Crazies tomorrow and see if it has the same effect on me . . .

I agree. Very underrated and fantastic psychodrama!

Definitely one of Romero's best movies. What makes this film so chilling and disturbing is that the story comes across as frighteningly plausible.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
