Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Superman

    InsufferableAss — 9 years ago(August 12, 2016 06:58 AM)

I'm assuming I am not the only one because superman has the ability to make grown men weep.
The moments that bring me to tears are:
Clark leaving smallville.. and his mother.
Kal el returning to the fortress of solitude after his first flight as Superman. When he holds our his arms to be embraced by his father. Sheesh. Always gets me.
What moments in this movie make you cry?

The helicopter rescue scene. It's so beautifully done, there are more tears of joy.
What is that thing you're using?. It's technical.

Clark leaving smallville.. and his mother.
        Yeah, that's a bit sad.
The two scenes that get to me are
At Jonathan Kent's Funeral, Clark says he has all these powers, but couldn't save his father.
Lois dies while Superman is saving the rest of the world
Superman is supposed to be the greatest and most powerful superhero of all time, and yet, It is very hard for him to accept that he can't be everywhere at the same time, and even if he can be, he can't save people from death. It is even worse, when the people he loves are the ones he can't save.
Imagine if you had his powers, and your loved ones died

The whole thing. It just reminds me so much of being a kid, watching this repeatedly on HBO in 1981-82 and getting really sad every time the end credits would roll. I still get that same feeling of melancholy and sometimes it goes over the cliff into tears.

When Ma Kent hits Clark with "Remember us, Son. Always remember us." and her voice cracks, I totally lose it. Every. Single. Time.

Krypton's Theme. Brings me to tears every time and remains to this day the most beautiful music ever composed.
                Jonathan's death. Everything about it.
"They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you my only son."

Superman screaming in pain and anguish over Lois Lane's death. Such a great heartbreaking emotional moment!
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
