What exactly did baby Kal-El do?

I could never tell what exactly happened and perhaps someone here can clear it up…
It happens right after Ma and Pa Kent find little baby Clark and the truck has a flat tire.
Pa is starting to change the tire.
Then he and Ma are startled when the truck is falling off the jack and Clark aka Kal is lifting it up.
Was the truck starting to fall off the jack and Kal caught it then lifted it?
Or was he always lifting it which caused it to look like it had fallen off the jack? -

That's a good question!
I got the impression that it was slipping and the baby wanted to help.
So, he was doing two crazy things, walking and lifting a truck.
This is one of my favorite movie experiences.
My mom rarely went out and wasn't interested in going to the movies at any point that I knew. When she heard Superman was coming out she really wanted to see it and so we all went to the movies together.
I can remember it like it was yesterday.
