Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Benson

is the weird organ driven intro, over-acting (similar to the acting of Disney shows these days), and it being mixed into reruns like MAS*H and Laverne & Shirley - but I also remember it being a part of the innocent part of my childhood, so for that reason alone it gets a pass.

I remember the reruns were abundant back in '86 and the final couple of seasons were tame. Few original characters were left and Benson and Krauss acted too buddy-buddy.

Krause had become Benson's assistant, when he became budget director 7 then Lt. Gov.
They had to learn to get along.
What is everybody's problem with them having made peace with each other?
They're grown adults and the insults & Krause's 'I hear you' had been done for 5 years or so. I loved that stuff too and it was funny but people have to grow up sometime, you know?
Even Benson & Clayton became good friends and co-workers by the end.

It's just funnier when they're sparring. Like on The Drew Carey Show - after Mimi married Drew's brother (an unfortunate character), they got along better and it was less funny.

Maybe. but i guess that's why it was good
Frank Burns left MASH before he & Hawkeye started becoming chummy.
