Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — You Can't Do That on Television

    Aizyk — 19 years ago(January 30, 2007 01:02 AM)

I don't remember much about this show, (and was technically forbidden to watch it) except of course for the people getting water or slime poured on their heads, and the show's bumper logo. But one of the few moments I do seem to recall is a sketch where one of the guys on the show gets pranked or something, and ends up naked and trying to cover himself. And when this happens, I recall his actual bare backside being shown. But now that I remember this, I'm thinking it must have been impossible because they wouldn't actually show something like that on TV? Or would they? Does anyone else remember anything like this happening?

You're probably recalling the scene where Alasdair was dressed in all white and Ross was telling him he can't wear white on TV.
Ross made him take off his shoes, socks, shirt, undershirt, and slacks, to reveal that Alasdair was still wearing white briefs.
Ross tried to get him to remove those too, but Alasdair ran off saying "No Way!!"
The scene sounds worse that it really was heh

I do recall a part where a guy is in a tub with his underwear and eventually removes them but asked a member of the crew to hand them back but every body walked off the set at the end of the show.

That was one of their little 'post-modernist' bits. The mom walks in on Alasdair in the tub, he's embarrassed, she tells him he's old enough to lock the door. "Then you wouldn't have to wear that silly bathing suit." Joke One, acknowledging Alasdair (or any of the other 'nudes' on the show) aren't really nude. Alasdair gets out of the tub, locks the door, gets back in the tub, theoretically removes his suit and tosses it away, then Joke Two, the 'scene ends' and an embarrassed Alasdair begs someone to bring his suit back so he won't have to run across the set naked to get it.

Might also be thinking of a VERY early episode, where a boy apparently teases a Native American kid about his ceremonial garb and is apparently magicked naked. Haven't seen the episode, only stills, so I don't know what was going on, but I seriously doubt the kid was really nude.

There's two or three "link" segments in that episode where the other kid gets nailed by whatever 'spirits' the native american kid is 'summoning'.
One zaps his clothes off (and they did a pretty astonishingly good job of making him look naked) and another strikes him down (you hear a comical 'incoming missile' noise and the kid looks up, crosses himself, and gets blasted).

First, it's not Alasdair who's wearing white when Ross objects & says he has to take everything off. It's Jono Gebert from a very early episode (the scene is on the "Worst Of" video). Also, the bit you're describing might be the end of the "Fashion" episode, when Christine, from behind a cue card (& nothing else, I'd always hoped!) says that there's nothing left in wardrobe, only to have Ross tell her that the cue card is studio property, & she has to hand it over!!

I remember during closing credits Kevin kubacheski is apparently naked and complains that the camera only shows him bare chested. Christine says if the camera goes lower then the tv audience would see his. . . . . ! Kevin gets a huge smile on his face. Priceless!
