Well, I wouldn't go that far. Effective comic situations need at least to convince us of the remote possibility of their happening. IAMMMMW, in the forced humor that it relentlessly pursues, doesn't allow for that. And don't worry, I wouldn't slur Sergeant Pepper in any way.

Funny. I had thoughts of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World while watching this. I was basically thinking that there were a ton of characters in both films, but this one is just plain confusing (I'm guessing it's because there were many small parts beefed up after certain actors signed on which completely ruined the story balance).

Not a bad comparison, and I think few, if any would seriously dispute that Kramer's film is the better, probably by far. But there are many similarities, and it would be hard to believe that it did not at least provide some kind of inspiration to Spielberg.

It`s more like Spielberg's Answer to 'The Russians Are Coming', because i saw many things in that movie that reminded me of 1941.
It starts with a russian submarine who stranded on the island Gloucester.
Go see the movie, and compare 1941 with that film.
It has a lot in common.
"Films are home movies of your past".
