I stated that nuclear reactors cannot detonate in a nuclear explosion.
You then had to try and gainsay me with a bit of ignorant and bullsh!t information which you picked up but did not fully understand, leading you into a false belief.
Therefore my first statement stands as correct.
As to my second statement, I said "probably".
Of course NOW you can say you know it's not true because you know the expected answer now.
Only you can know if you really thought that or not. But your reaction embarrassment and acting out against me for pointing it out, speaks volumes.
The snideness in my comment does not come from your simply being incorrect.

We got a whole 2 generations now raised on the idea that everything is supposed to be perfectly equal and that no one is allowed to give offense. Everyone thinks every team deserves a trophy, not just the winners.

In addition to all of the other reasons given, maybe one of the writers saw that ep of ST-TOS where half Black and half White Frank Gorshin took control of the Enterprise and Kirk, Spock and Scotty solemnly, intently and oh so suspensefully entered the self destruct code sequences only to have Kirk abort same at the last possible second when the Riddler relented and returned control of the Enterprise to Kirk (like we didn't see that coming).
You would think on a FTL starship with a mineral ore refinery that big and valuable, on a mission which takes 2 years in cyro to go each way, they would give you a slightly longer time period to change your mind about blowing the whole damn thing up. Hell you could even lose your status as a flight officer and be sentenced to pyschometric probation if you guessed wrong.
I guess you could call the self destruct/abort a sci-fi troupe if you wanted to

My car doesn't have a specific self-destruct mechanism, but I could get it to self-destruct if I wanted to. Probably won't be as big as the Nostromo's explosion, but would destroy the car.
You can crash pretty much everything against a wall.
