Whats wrong with your eyes Man! Just kidding. I used to like it in Black and White films where people would refer to the color of the clothes other characters wore. And so we had fun trying to guess what color clothes everyone was wearing judging by how dark the grey was.

yeah no, I SWEAR it was the 70s when I saw the movie. I was just a little kid and it scared me so bad I had nightmares and woke up screaming and my parents had to settle me down! It was shown on the old school basic network channels. If you are old enough you know I am referring to the 4 wonderful channels we had growing up: 4, 6, 7, & 10 (you can count PBS if you want but I dont!

I can also tell you that THEN it was an old movie. There were no creatures in it or anything supernatural from what I remember. It was more like a haunting/ghost/spirit/possession type flick -

Where did you grow up, labrat? Because where I grew up we had
seven
wonderful channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 which
included
PBS. (Why wouldn't you count it?) And UHF channels a little later. Back then we had tons of movies on every week, something places with only three or four channels didn't have anywhere near as much.
Anyway, do I take it that bloody3's suggestion isn't the film you're looking for? I read your post yesterday and it bugs me because I almost swear I've seen a film with the scene you describe but can't place it. The first plant-man movie I thought of is a dreadful b&w 1957 film called
From Hell It Came
and I know that isn't it.
You're not thinking of
Little Shop of Horrors
, are you? I mean the original from 1960. At the end the guy is eaten by and becomes part of the plant but I think you'd remember that one, and besides it's also in b&w. There was a 1958 British film called
Womaneater
about a mad scientist feeding women to a carnivorous plant but I don't think that's the right one either (and also b&w).
Sorry I can't be of more help. -

Hobnob53,
I grew up in south Florida! You? Channel 2 was PBS, channel 4 was CBS, channel 6 was WCIX which was a station that showed cartoons in the morning, old sitcoms in the afternoon, on saturdays this was the station that ran Creature Feature! Channel 7 was NBC and channel 10 was ABC. Now once in a blue moon channel 13 would pick up another station but not very well. We were one of the first families in our area to get cable tv sometime around 82 or 83- after On Tv disappeared.
I found a trailer for bloody3 suggestion- the movie actually goes after other titles as well- I guess it just depended where it was released. If showed scenes but didnt show the ending. None the less, after seeing clips from the movie I am fairly sure it isnt the movie but I will press on looking for a video that shows the ending.
I also was able to find a list of Creature Features that were run all 52 weekends thru the 70s but obviously all of the movies that were shown on Creature Features were classic horror/monster movies. So I have eliminated that as a possibility.
I am thinking it is possible that this movie was a made for tv story but I dont believe it is. I will press on but I have a feeling this is going to remain a mystery until I die! LOL! I will never give up! -

Franklfw, I am now positive Maneater of Hydra is definitely the movie! I cannot thank you enough! You have no Idea, I have been trying to figure out the name of this movie for probably 35 years if not more. I saw this flick when I was probably 6 years old- it came on network tv during one of the Monster movie marathons. It scared the hell out of me and gave me nightmares for at least two nights. Of course this was the 70s and there are far scarier movies now, but at the time and being a little kid, it was traumatizing!
You must be a real horror buff to have figured this one out! Did you remember this movie? -

I believe that you're thinking of a film that I saw as
Maneater of Hydra
starring Cameron Mitchell and story and direction by Mel Welles of the original
Little Shop of Horrors
.
You can find it on YouTube right now in a Google search.
