Watching this carefully after a long period, 20 years or more, (I was scared to death, in a previous life) : Now i see its qualities the amazing sets, the camera moves, the stroboscopic (panic) light effects ! this is overwhelming for nothing else as its beauty, (still skipping the gore parts).
Regarding the sound track unforgettable. Mind there is some score close to Ravel's orchestral music. It's slow paced and overall less violent as expected. A masterpiece.

Yes, I think the exact moment they go to check out the strange transmissions there is a dark, brooding atmosphere. From that point on you always feel uneasy like something isn't right and the film never loses that feeling. That isn't very easy to do. I love the atmosphere and suspense this film had and I'm glad I watched it again after so many years.

It's still a great sci-fi horror. There's nothing I don't like about it. The look of the film. The music. The cast. It's all great.
So many stories, so little time.

Tbf the Alien franchise was ****ed yo before that, but Prometheus and Covenant are a true **** stain on the original’s legacy with all their retconning and mythos-ruining
