Looks like another version of The Day After.
It is.
Only it's more localized on a family and a small community.
As I said, the moments up to the flash create the creepy, eerie feeling and makes me think I am there.
Where the blast moments in Day After are cool looks SFX!
LOL
When my dad and I watched it I remarked the lucky ones die first.
Yeah I hope it never comes down to it, and it might with our proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, I would run outside hoping to get vaporized right away.
Would you try and survive in a radioactive wasteland and die slowly and painfully or would you try and get zapped?

I haven't tried Alice B. Tolkas yet. I think that's the name of a gay group that Harvey Milk was a member of.
I think you're right.
A search brings up a gay/lesbian political group with that name based in San Francrisco, home of Milk and her birthplace.

Apparently she was a real life woman who was lovers with Gertrude Stein and they hosted authors and artists in their Paris home.
I don't see anything about her leading any political movements.

I have not watched it to the end yet but so far I am!
And I have a couple of movies on hold at the Lib. that you suggested.
Will let you know what they are and my thoughts after watching them.

It didn't do anything for me the first time so I thought I would give it another go.
I really like the opening credits with him jumping up and down to that music.

Sellers can be hard to stand in Kubrick's films; I was turned off by his characters, but he's refreshingly funny in others like The Party and A Shot in the Dark. Being There, I have to say it's his greatest role; very hard to pull off for most actors.
