I have another theory: The film crew (more than likely Alan with a little help from Mark and/or Jack) killed/impaled the girl after having their "fun" with her. Notice when they "find" the corpse, Alan is smirking proudly, like he thinks it's awesome, until Mark warns him that he's filming.

This is 100% what the implication is within the movie.
They captured the girl in order to stage this horrific impaling tableau for their documentary. The gang rape was just a "bonus" for the sadistic, psychopathic film crew.
