How did you come across this movie? where did you hear about it? what made you watch it.
For me, I saw the movie "Hostel" & then on those boards saw the disturbing movie names & had CH mentioned. -

My sisters ex boyfriend told me about it back in 1999 or 2000 saying it was the most disgusting film hed seen. I was intrigued so I tried to find it but I couldnt find it anywhere as it was banned in my country and most imports are from the UK and it was also banned there and it was unavailable as a US import. I finally saw it as a bootleg in a collectors shop and bought it. It was in 2000 and saw it - dont know if it was a cut version or not but it had the turtle killing scene, all rape scene, the castration scene and the killings in the end - I somehow expected more and did not care for this film for some years - I then finally bought it on dvd in Denmark and brought it home and finally saw it again and was mostly disturbed by the animal killings especially the killing of the monkey.

I'm a student of European genre cinema 1955 - 1985. Composer Riz Ortolani did the music for my favorite Italian horror film Web of the Spider from 1971. Director Ruggero Deodato got his start as a camera operator working for that film's director, Antonio Margheriti, and served as cinematographer on the 1964 film Castle of Blood, which Web of the Spider is a remake of. If you are a fan of Italian horror eventually you have to see Cannibal Holocaust, though I kind of wish I hadn't.

I've seen it on cable TV when I was 13 or 14. I had not heard anything about this film before, it was a random choice.
I don't remember being particularly freaked out, and the only scene (apart from the wonderful music) I vaguely remembered years later was the impalement part. Which probably means that I found it the most disturbing at the time. -

I used to visit comic conventions heavily in the early 2000's, and a vendor had a table featuring bootleg VHS of hard-to-find movies. I saw the proclamation that the film was "Banned in 50 Countries!", so being the impressionable young teen I was bought the film right away.
I'm glad I did as it is now one of my favorite films.

I can't remember any more - I know I first heard of this film about 3, maybe 4 years ago. Recommended it to The Cinema Snob for a review - got an email back saying he'd consider it. About 6 months later, I got my wish - the review was on the site.

I'd heard about it in the 80s from friends but never got a chance to see it, then I kinda forgot about it for awhile. A friend mentioned it in conversation around 1999, and I got renewed interest in it, so I tracked it down on the internet.

My mom rented it when I was about 7 or 8 and I walked in when she was watching it. I don't quite remember what I saw I just know it was horrible and my mom's insane reaction at me walking in really stuck with me. For years she wouldnt tell me the name if but eventually she did, and I was able to read about it and see bits on the internet. I just saw the entire movie for the first time a few weeks ago.

My story isn't that exciting. I had read about it on the web when i was doing a search of extreme horror films. Then i found it in a video store and bought it (the grindhouse releasing original deluxe edition print). And i watched it. It was amazing. Not many films moved me as much as that film. Top Ten.
I just love film. -

I first read about this movie in 1995 or so. I was a horror junkie and I wanted to see this movie so bad. Back then you couldn't just find a movie online and watch it and finally in about 1998 I found a dupe copy from a website on vhs and ordered it for 20 bucks. I loved it. I had never seen anything like it.

I was searching for zombie movies. I randomly came across this movie's plot synopsis on the web. It mentioned it featured a tribe of people who consume human flesh. So I downloaded it but never got around to watching it. Then about two weeks ago they talked about it on a podcast I like so I decided to watch it. I just finished watching it about 5 minutes ago, actually.

About six or seven years ago, I actually saw a presentation on this movie at a literature conference (Pennsylvania College English Association). The talk focused on the style of the movie, the simulated documentary feel. I don't remember much else other than wanting to see it because it looked more extreme than anything I had seen at that point. I asked the guy how to obtain a copy, and he was very evasive, but I persisted, and he referred me to Diabolik DVD. I don't know what he was afraid of, I was worried Diabolik was some sort of super underground black market thing.

I did a Google Search for popular cult movies. After reading a lot of comedies and oddities in many of these lists, Cannibal Holocaust kept showing up as an alternative to other popular cult films, so I had to check it out.

I was about 11 years old, 2004ish lurking imdb forums for gory horror movies. i had already seen like the lucio fulci stuff and i wanted to see the lowest of the low. than i saw one post saying it was banned in 62 countries, and so i sought it out.
