I'm more of a movie critic type: my favorite films are Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, The Godfather, and Raging Bull. But this deserves to be up there with those movies, and it's a shame it has such a poor rating on this website. The first time I saw it I loved it (before I saw all the films above), and thought it was great. And I saw it again just less than a week ago, and still thought it was one of the greatest. What people voted this so low? I think its one of the best movies ever made, up there with those other films I mentioned.

People thought it was too corny & sad. Movie goers like action films nowadays not heart-warming films.

Terrible terrible terrible. Some overacting by Voight and somex EXTREME overacting by Schroeder. Plus I don't like movies with sad endings.
