They were cool, man. Too cool for me! I would've been lucky if I made the minor league gang "The Orphans" but I doubt I could've been a Warrior or a Rogue. I thought "The Baseball Furies" were the scariest gang because of the face paint, baseball uniforms and bats. Imagine running into those guys on a lonely side street in the Bronx at one in the morning. Think of how psycho they had to be to dress that way when they were just hanging out in the wee hours of the morning!!
The Warriors is futuristic and dystopian (much like A Clockwork Orange). It doesn't necessarily take place in "the present" i.e., 1979. It's cartoonish at times but also realistic because gang warfare was a real thing in NYC at the time and the film is a commentary on that and a warning about how bad things could get if the trend continued.
"Can you dig it?!" -

You think it's gay as ****, but you've watched it thirty times? And just exactly how many bottles of lube have you used up during those viewings, eh?
I've been searching for the daughter of the Devil himself, I've been searching for an angel in white. -
