Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Warriors

I found the Baseball Furies to be much more interesting in their style compared to The Warriors, and felt that the Warrior characters should have been written into the Baseball Fury gang, and make that gang the protagonists.
    What do you think?

They definitely should've had a bigger part. Ideally, the Warriors should've been an 8 hour movie, with at least an hour dedicated to the Baseball Furies and another on the Riffs.

        So a mini-series then.

If I'm understanding this correctly the only major change would be the warriors wearing baseball uniforms and face paint. Aside from their style of dress the two things that made the baseball furies interesting were their complete silence and bats. The warriors weren't silent and even if they were a whole movie starring mutes would get uninteresting. The baseball furies in the movie were able to stop by their turf and pick up their bats, if the movie were structured the same they wouldn't have access to their signature weapons until the end when they reach their turf. I think they're better off being mysterious antagonists.

The mystery adds to their charm, they'd probably be a lot less interesting in anything more than a small dose. Plus I'm sure they'd look less badass if they had to talk. Honestly I don't want an explanation of who they are or more depth to their characters, imagination can fill in those gaps so much better.
If you read the Sol Yurick book you'd see how much the Warriors had to be toned down and cleaned up before being presented as the main characters of the movie. They got more depth and characterization, for the Furies I like that we just don't know.
