i can see what your trying to say. even though you are being a twat about it. i think you ment "your mind and make you think long after the movie is over that's my kind of movie. So this movie is crap IN MY OPINION!"
I think this movie is great. this is how movies should be made these days. i agree that psychological horrors are good aswell but this movie did make me think long after after the movie is over. if you see other teen slasher movies made in this age it seems like they try to get to the point this movie did but they fail so much. -

I think it depends on the viewer, and maybe the circumstances when they saw the movie. Being a teenage girl in the late 80's, it caught me at the perfect time, which meant that I was terrified beyond belief ;).

The ending was what was REALLY scary because you did NOT know that was going to happen, that whole part is NOT in the legendit's like when Arboghast gets murdered in Psycho, they don't advertise that part, they focus on Marion Crane in the shower so today that's not scary, but Arboghast biting it, YES! Just like the end, to be in bed WITH THE KILLER! cringe

I think if you put yourself in Jill's situation, it is horrifying. She is in an unfamiliar environment with a stranger (who may or may not be dangerous) harassing her on the phone and it is her responsibility to keep a pair of children safe but she doesn't even know if she's safe herself. I have no idea what I'd do if I were in her situation. I honestly think I would've went upstairs to check the children and get killed. Next time you watch it, pretend it's you babysitting and receiving creepy phone calls and you might be scared.
I've been waiting for you, Ben. -

I completely disagree. This was not a slasher flick.this IS a psychological thriller. The reason this movie holds well after all these years is for two main reasons:
- THIS could actually happen in real life. Every teenage girl has probably babysat at one time or another and can put herself in Jill's shoes.
- it is masterful at keeping you on the edge with true suspense. It does not rely on blood and gore to get you there.
These are just my opinions but I can tell you thisI saw this when I was 10 or 11 on late night showtime in 1980/1981 and it stayed with me so much that I NEVER babysat. I had my parent's friends and neighbors ask me and I said no EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Andto this day, I will NOT watch it alone. I own it on DVD and not only will I not watch it alonebut someone has to spend the night too! Last time I watched it was with a friend at her house and yesI slept on her couch. Me and her two extremely large dogs and I felt safe! Haha!
