THIS JUST HAPPENS TO BE ANOTHER CASE WHERE THE SEQUEL IS WAY BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE.THIS WAS FUNNIER,BETTER ACTED,AND HAD ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGHT SCENES I HAVE EVER SEEN ON FILM.ANYONE ELSE AGREE?

You hit the nail on the head, This is one of the best (and longest) fight scenes ever filmed. Its a shame there are no behind the scenes footage of making on the DVD. I would love to have seen Smith and Eastwood on set working out fight moves as the fight progressed through the town. In one of his Biographies (Johnson) Eastwood himself states AWWYC was one of his favourite projects he worked on, and formed a genuine freindship with Clyde( Who apparently didnt take to everyone he worked with). I loved the original, But again I agree with you, The sequel is far better.

I REMEMBER READING AN OLD ARTICLE WHERE EASTWOOD SAID THAT HE LIKED THIS MOVIE WAY BETTER THAN THE FIRST,BECAUSE IT WAS FUNNIER,HAD A DECENT PLOT,UNLIKE THE FIRST,HAD A GREAT BUILD UP FOR A GREAT FIGHT AT THE END OF THE MOVIE,WHICH TO ME HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST BRUTAL SEQUENCES,THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A PG RATED FILM,WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE LATER ROCKY SEQUELS,WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PART5,WHICH WAS PG-13.TO THIS DAY,THIS HAS TO BE OE OF MY FAVORITE FIGHT SCENES EVER IN A MOVIE.AND YES I WISH THEY WOULD PUT OUT A SPECIAL EDITION FOR THIS,WITH AN AUDIO COMMENTARY WITH EASTWOOD,SMITH,AND LEWIS.

I actually liked the first one and this one together because they are both classics and made me laugh a lot when I was 6 years old when the first one came out and then when the sequel came out 4 years later I still loved watching it.

I liked them both but the second one seemed a lot more comical to watch though than the first one.

Well I loved them both and use to watch them when they came on cable TV back in the day and now they hardly ever show it at all now.

The fight scene loses its value for the simple fact that almost more time is spent on the spectators than the combatants. Without all of these remarkably annoying diversions, it would rank as possibly the best ever.
As it is, we get more reaction than action.

Two great films! I thought the first was better because it had more fights and had a deeper story.
Having said that, the second was definitely funnier. The crapping in the squad cars had me in stitches as well as the scenes with the Black Widows. -

The first film was rather dull but did great business on the BO. The sequel was better and went more for laughs. Great fight scene and they did well by actually making the Smith character likeable.

I agree with the OP. I'm a huge Eastwood fan, but I was terribly disappointed when I saw
Every Which Way But Loose
. Not only was it an unfunny "comedy," but it was also a poorly made film. I hated it so much that I didn't want to see the sequel thinking that it would be even worse. Well, I decided to give
Any Which Way You Can
a try, and I actually liked it! It is a much better film in every aspect and it's actually funny.
