The producers planned to get Don Rickles for the film (as Al Czervik) but Rodney Dangerfield was hired.
I think Rickles might have been a lot funnier, especially with the insults like during the dinner at the country club. He would have had a field day with Ted Knight and all of the old people.
Rodney was still hilarious, though.
Oh my God, look at you. Anyone else hurt in the accident?
