Jeezus. I usually love time travel movies. But nothing at happened with this.
They basically went to the past. Derped around a bit and came back. What was the point of this.

Its a pretty stupid movie actually. James Farentino's character ruined it. Could have been so much better, but the thought of a modern war ship going back in time with the ability to change the course of history, then doing nothing is pretty lame.
Should be remade, hell I'll write the script!

Each to their own, but I guess the point of the movie is the story, not the end result. There is really no other option with this movie than what happened because if they had destroyed the IJN it would have had no real 'conclusion'. I guess they could have returned to the 1980's to find the planet a radioactive wasteland, but really I can't see a conclusion to the story than what they had.
I enjoy it (maybe due to nostalgia as I was 15 when this movie came out so my 'requirements for a good story' was a lot less). But as I said, 'each to their own'.

Had it really simply been boring, you would have just gone on your merry.
