I did not see a thread about this so if there is one already I apologize. But I've always wondered who/what Tony really is. It was always my belief that Tony was a just a name that Danny assigned to his psychic "abilities" due to being such a young boy and not fully understanding what was happening or what he was capable of. But do you think it could be possible that Tony is actually a spirit or an entity of some kind that is telling him these things? Thoughts?

I just think because of Danny's Shining being more powerful.It could seem like he was speaking to another person or child. Much like a split personality. A way for the Little boy to cope with some of the visions he has is to give this other personality a name.

Other Movie?? there is no other movie. there is a Mini series of the Shining which has it's own forum on IMDB. Feel free to discuss the miniseries in that forum.
But we are talking about the 1980 the Shining directed by Kubrick. In the 1980 film. Tony is not a older version of Danny. Tony is just a name Danny gave to his Shining Ability to cope with the visions the Shining brings.
