Why would they do a remake, the original is as epic it could possibly get. They couldn't catch the miserable an dark atmosphere that movie brought. A remake would probably involve some kid/teen with a backpack running around with zero deaths taking place.

Geoffrey Rush. Combine his Barbossa with his Linoel Logue, I think you could have the perfect Merlin. Anyone else agree?
I'm not overly keen on the remake, but I'm open to it, and if it has to happen, you need a good cast to sell it.

A remake? What are you nuts or something?

Morgan Freeman. He already plays that role in everything these days (the wise, old mentor). Or maybe Timothy Dalton. While I'm at it, Vinnie Jones would make a great Uther.

dont think they are doing one now..
but probably Alan Rickman or Gary Oldman
and what about the rest of them?
how about Natalie Dormer as Guinevere?
                Francois Arnaud as Arthur
                David Oakes as Lancelot

Geoffrey Rush would be great, as he always is. But I don't see any reason to remake this - or at least not to do another Arthur film modelled on Excalibur. This is a classic and the best tribute is to direct viewers to it rather than trying to produce a newer version.

There is nothing wrong with remakes, this one is currently 35 years old. A remake doesn't change the original and most the time makes the originals look better. I've watched this one so many times I'd be happy with a remake to see an updated version of it.

By the time a remake happens I think we'll be at a point where David Wenham would make a great Merlin.
