I just saw this movie a few nights ago for the first time since it came out in '81. I was immediately struck at the scene where Ron Perlman's character strategically drops a rock on his clansman's head as a practical joke. In Alien Resurrection, Ron Perlman's character acts like a monkey before dropping a knife into the leg of one of his crew member's - also as a practical joke. Did anyone else notice this, and did anyone else see the similarity? Coincidence? I doubt it.

Very nice catch and it makes sense. I wish I would have caught this.

probably a nice little in-joke put in for the .5% of the audience that would catch it I sure didn't till I saw this film. 😉

I first saw Perlman in some stupid c-movies It wasn't until later that I saw him in The name of the rose and Enemy at the gates and found out that he is actually a fine actor. He was terrific in Alien:ressurection ROFL - favorite line - when Johner talks to the android "Does that compute or do I have to draw you a schematic?"
So I guess he did this on purpose 🙂

Yes, I caught that. But then when you're a Perlman fan, that happens. 🙂 And yes, he was fantastic in Alien Reserection. Total badass.

LOL. He was paying tribute to himself in that scene:
