This movie is biased towards Joan, but somehow it makes Christina to be an ungrateful little sh*t. I don't care if the story happened in real life or not. In the movie, Christina seemed to enjoy being rebellious and openly defying her mother. Joan only flew off the handle when that happened. I thought that she was quite reasonable otherwise. Some how, given all the opportunities and resources Christina had, she seemed to squander it. Joan clearly wanted her to "make it on her own," not to spite her, but to nudge her in the right direction.

I completely disagree with this, respectively of course. Christina was anything but ungrateful and Joan flew off the handle for tons of reasons and not only when Christina would act out which was very little.

Any parent who expects their child to follow many strict, rigid rules will breed rebellion in them. Christina was pushed like crazy by Joan in everything to be perfect. Joan was also straight up hypocritical with how she treated Christina. "You know where to find the boys and the booze" says the mother who raised her daughter around various lovers and was an alcoholic.

Oh please. Those rules weren't strict. I've seen worse. The military has strict rules. You don't see soldiers acting up….well maybe a few like MovieMancin2. -
