amazingly shot film. But the worst acting I have ever seen, some of the most cringe worthy dialogue I have ever heard, yes I actually physically cringed. The story was incredibly unfocused. It was bad, really bad. I mean memorably bad

Lol not you, the OP. Didn't mean to reply to you, I meant the OP has a stick up his ass with this post.

Not a particularly thoughtful response to someone who sticks their head above the parapet and says they didn't like the film and why. I personally disagree with the OP and thought it was unfairly lambasted at the time -.the surrealism is very effective in its expression of the otherness in relationships - though the film is probably its own worst enemy. Dismissing criticism as coming from someone with "a stick up his ass" will likely confirm their view rather than counter it.

Some of us were enjoying the cringe, though I'd call it squirming with delighted repulsion.
And I can't back your acting criticism, these are some of the most outrageous performances I've ever seen. You can't tell me that you saw that subway scene as didn't consider that she may have actually become possessed while filming it?
And your story criticism, too, I have to take issue with. The plot is all over the place, but the story I feel is relatively simple. It's a metaphor for the dissolution of a marriage, and the how that fallout can often encase some very horrific acts and events.
I gave it a 10, because I've never had another movie experience like it.

Anyone could do what she did in that subway scene on camera, its called throwing a temper tantrum and is not hard to do. Screaming as loud as you can and flailing around is not hard. A good actor could get across everything with a subtle nod or glance to indicate being "possessed" or some kind of body posture without all the ridiculous over acting she did.
