It's out. It's beautiful, but it's pricey. Got mine at diabolikdvd.com

You have to order it directly from Mondo Vision at this time.
There is a Limited Edition, Limited to 2000 Copies, with a book and CD soundtrack and hours of bonus material, and uncut, beautifully restored blu ray. But is $64.99!
There is another edition, simply called a "Special Edition", that is still $39.95, and has a slip cover, case and the film and features on blu ray.
You click the "pre-order the blu ray" underneath the film's banner on Mondo-Vision.com . It takes you to another site called "Toufann", that allows you to order the blu ray. You can create an account with them, or simply skip it and then use Paypal to checkout instead. You can pay $9.00 for expedited mail, or you can get free regular media mail.
          I've ordered the regular edition.
          Hope this was helpful.

What are the special features like on the Blu-ray? I don't own a Blu-ray player, but I just ordered the 2000 Anchor Bay DVD release on eBay for $30 because I've been dying to own a copy. I've seen pictures of the limited edition velvet boxed set, looks so nice (but $65 is crazy)!

Wow, you paid $30 for the Anchorbay DVD from 10 years ago! You do realize that is not the correct version of the film? They added extra music to the film without Zulawski's permission. Mondo Vision's release marks the first ever true Director's cut of the film in North America.
The Limited Edition is out of this world. It is the most gorgeous and elaborate set I have seen of any film. Once you hold it in your hands, you realize that even at $65 is a still bargain. Other than the beautiful velvet packaging you are getting the complete soundtrack CD which would at least sell for $15 if released individually plus 84 page Book featuring 10 new and archival essays and an interview with Zulawski. You also get the following:
8 [5x7] U.S. Lobby Card Reproductions Inside Custom Envelope
                5 [4x6] Exclusive Art Cards
                1 Japanese Movie Flyer Reproduction
Individually Numbered Certificate Of Authenticity With Unique Serial # [Only 2000 Individually Numbered Sets Produced]
There is 34 pages of discussion for this release on Blu-ray forum, you can have a look at some photos posted by other users.

The cut is the same, but the soundtrack is different. Mondo Vision decided to include both tracks and they labeled the one from Anchorbay Disc as "Unauthorized Alternate Audio track"
Found this post on Blu-ray forum which explains the story behind the Unauthorized Alternate Audio track:
                    http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=9252741#post9252741
"If you happened to have seen the original Anchorbay Disc from early 2000, this is the audio track that was used over the film. There are many scenes where music plays in the background, the most notable being the subway scene; there shouldn't be any music during that scene. If you flip to the Unauthorized audio you notice it plays the piano theme all the way through it. There are other parts as "Lyris" mentioned too. All the pieces were composed for the film, but Zulawski didn't use them all for the final cut. No one knows how it happened but somewhere down the line someone decided to add those music cues back to the film without Zulawski's permission. Basically any one who bought the Anchorbay disc ended up watching the wrong film! If you bought the LE, refer to the technical sheet, on the OST track list Mondo Vision has clearly marked where each track belongs to.
                    Taken from the technical sheet:
                    Tracks marked (
                    green *
) appear in the Director Approved Final Cut of the film.
                    Tracks marked (
                    red *
) appear in the Unauthorized Alternate Audio track. (See Note)
                    Tracks marked (
                    black *
                    ) are Previously Unreleased.
                    Note:
A handful of releases, including POSSESSIONs first U.S. DVD release (ironically billed as the Directors Cut) were issued with an Unauthorized Alternate Audio track consisting of additional music. This additional music was composed by Andrzej Korzyski but omitted by the director in the final cut of the film."

You should change the title to region free since the Mondo Vision disc is all region.

Is there a DVD version of this?
