    And that's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it!
Im seeing this now for the first time because i consider The final chapter to be the best of the Friday the 13th movies, and wanted more form this director.
While the pace is slow and dull at time, once the killer strikes is great in your face long takes of gore! Not shying away one bit, the stabbing through the head of that guy with white eyes and everything was quite unsettling. (also, amazing how long you can keep struggling with a spear through your brains!)
All done with good old latex and fake blood ah, the good days where everything on camera had to actually physically exist can't beat that.

This film has some of the greatest kills that I've seen in a slasher film. Truly spectacular!

Definitely. Maybe this one will be revived as part of an anti-CGI movement. Fans of reality could check this one out for great realistic blood spatters and stabbings. Not too perfect, but honest.
The rawness of the violence was almost more brutal than cartoony. Like watching an actual death without the pre-existing ideas one might have of how it SHOULD look.

"Not too perfect, but honest. " Nicely put. That's what we love about this movie, the effort put on it, it shows.

spoilers for original film Friday the 13th below
I just learned that Tom Savini did the special effects here. NO WONDER the gore scenes were so realistic in "The Prowler"!
I'm not a fan of gore but even I had to admire the FX of Tom Savini in "Friday the 13th".
Never have I seen such a realistic scene as the scene where
Marcy dies with the ax in her head.
That chills me to this day.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
                "Didn't he discover America?"
                "Penfold, shush."

I liked this movie. Well, let me rephrase that. I like all horror movies from this time period. Tom Savini was a make up genius and all of the movies featuring his work were great. You can't do that with CG and achieve the same effect. Of course, being the old fart I am, I'm biased towards these movies. They don't make them like this anymore and it saddens me.
I know. Times have changed and you can't go back. Well not unless you find a tricked out DeLorean driven by a kid and an old guy. Then you can steal it and go back.
                    Long live the 70s!
