    Definitely the Burning.
I found much of the Prowler to be pretty standard fare. Not bad, just nothing extraordinary.
I'm also a big fan of summer camp type films.

Both are good, but I like The Burning better.

The Prowler. I've never particularly cared for The Burning, apart from a couple of excellent murder set-pieces. The ending is particularly sloppy, where they use a still shot of the killer on (I believe) multiple occasions after his face is revealed.
I find the entirety of The Prowler to be spooky and full of intensity. It's a better made film in general.

                The Burning
                is a top slasher,
                The Prowler
                is dull, scatterbrained junk.

One thing I'm learning is not to trust slasher fans. Both of these movies stink, but I thought
                  The Prowler
was slightly less embarrassing even though the physical setting isn't very interesting. I really don't get the fuss over these two films, they're both boring as hell aside from the kills (which
                  The Prowler
                  excels in).

You don't get the fuss because you don't like them. A lot of people however do like them, and definitely don't find them boring.
