I am very curious about this because it was hard to tell. It looked like he was wearing some very old form of a gas mask with fabric around it. Was his headpiece based on something the army did use or was it just made up more for the film? Thanks again

I did some searching and found this interesting site:
        http://www.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_clothing_combat_ww2.php
I then saw this on that site and it appears close to the actual outfit the Prowler wore minus the head garb, but you can see this uniform rides high up on the neck as well
        http://www.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_clothing_combat_ww2_airborne_par atroopers.php
next in the top pic of headpieces worn, look to the one on the left that almost has the ski-mask look. I think if we combined that with the paratrooper outfit we may have something ery close to the Prowler. Then all we need to do is add in a helmet and pitchfork

Iti s annoying because this is one film where they should hae shown him a bit more, because with quick glances you really are not that sure what you are looking at. The film had 3 good shots.

            1. Handing whatsherface the rose
            2. another similar shot when he was walking toward her and it had an upperbody/head shot
            3. the hood removal which kind of helps but not really

I really think I found it this time!!! My whole point of curiousity was to create a custom 1/6 scale figure/doll replica of the Prowler since no official one was ever made.
I was just looking on ebay for 1/6 face mask
and I stumbled onto this. I really think this is what he was wearing
              http://cgi.ebay.com/1-6-DID-WWII-German-Helmut-Thorvald-Camo-Facemask- BBI_W0QQitemZ190322104494QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=it em2c5014d8ae
and use this camo face veil for the rest of his head nad partial face and I think we have it
