from the 40s (I think): rich woman marries poor guy; she is an author (I think) and dictates her stories into a Dictaphone and one night leaves it on inadvertently; it tapes a conversation between her husband and his girlfriend who are planning to murder her. It ends with husband trying to run her down with his car, but he ends up killing his girl by mistake because girlfriend and wife are wearing the same coat/scarf.
