During the climactic sequence (and closing credits) when Frank takes out Leo and his gang, does the music remind anyone else of a slow version of the oldies song "Kiss Him Goodbye"? This would be most apropos, considering Frank is indeed saying goodbye to his hopes of a better life as well as to the mess with Leo. Do you think Michael Mann/Tangerine Dream were subtly alluding to this with the music?

Try listening to it again. It's much slower, in a diminished tone/key, and missing notes, but I think it similar.

You're trying to hear something that just isn't there.
          No.

            trying
            to do it.

Personally, I always thought it rang especially similar to the Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" version from the Pulse (live) album.
David Gilmour's epic guitar wails at the climax of the song are eerily similar. Cheers to a brilliant flick all the same.

I was certain the music was by Pink Floyd & was very surprised that it's not.

In the special features on the bluray is an interview with an old member from Tangerine Dream. He said that Comfortably Numb had just come out at the time and Mann wanted something that sounded like it for the ending, but apparently revealed later on he wasn't too happy with it.
