“Cheers” — On their way to catch a flight to Barbados to get married, Diane Chambers, whose fiancé left her, met her future love at the gang’s sanctuary where she ended up working as a waitress, and sucked at it.
“Friends” — Rachel Green left her fiancé at the altar, met her future love at the gang’s sanctuary where she ended up working as a waitress, and sucked at it.
The only difference is that one fiancé was the fool, while the other fiancé did the fooling. Since James Burrows had creative input on both series, the similarities were definitely not coincidental.
