Cookie monster now eats healthy foods and cookies are just a 'sometimes' food.

I'm not surprised. The old looney toons could be remarkably racist and honestly, a kid watching them without proper context could be in for a nasty surprise.

Not true, at least, not as you think it to be. The song "Cookies are a Sometimes Food" was sung by Hoots the owl to Cookie Monster, and at the end, Cookie yelled "NOW is sometimes!" and ate the cookie. Besides, Cookie Monster has always stressed the importance of a balanced diet. This is from 1974 -

The dark crystal did kinda scare/creep me out as a kid. The Wizard of Oz scared me, too, but I still loved it.. and Willy Wonka, I loved it as a kid but there was that scene when they're in the boat in the end and watching the films on the wall there is a chicken being de-capitated.. that's kind of vile.. wierd. gross, disturbing. but it's not the first thing i think of when i think of that movie so, I dont know if they should not be shown to kids.. I might not, though, honestly. The other movies I've never seen..

The author of that "article" is an idiot. I certainly prefer dark kids movies compared to something that has frolicking ponies, fluffy earthquakes, etc. The late 70's and early 80's were known for "dark" kids movies, and yet we don't see anything so much like them anymore. Movies affect people in different ways. The Dark Crystal might scare the hell out of a full grown adult, but I saw this movie as early as 5 years old, and never had problems with it. That doesn't mean it won't scare other children though.
I say we get rid of happy movies geared towards children and add some sex, nudity, drugs, and hardcore violence and then we'll see how "unfit" they are for children.
Also, I was being sarcastic but hopefully y'all see my point.

THere were intensities that were necessary and definitely worthy. Scary, yes these films can be, but that's why they're terrific. Bitter with the sweet.

Lol. I loved every movie on that list as a child. I don't like several as much now (Flight of the Navigator is boring to me now), but I don't think those are bad for kids.

Why leave a comment? You're only giving them more hits on their website. If you are so outraged by such an opinion, don't react or bring others to the flamebait.

I did not see the article, but I would not let children see the Wizard of Oz, not because it has witches or wizards in it, but because it says witches can be good or bad, which I do not believe. As far as I know Willy Wonka is only about a person who makes candy, right? I have not seen the other movies.
