Rocky V lolol? HORRIBLE movie, possibly the worst of his careerlooking back, it's amazing that it got green-lighted it was so bad. Was the 1st pebble in an avalanche of awful films that eventually buried Stallone's career.

As bad as Rocky V is, it's by far not his worst. Not when there's Rhinestone, easily his worst movie by far. Also i think Driven, D-Tox and Daylight are worse than Rocky V, imo. -

It's why i have no respect or interest in the oscars. A performance like Stallone gave is definitely worthy of at least a nomination. If De Niro, Dustin Hoffman or some other 'serious' actor had done it, it would have been guaranteed an oscar nom.
the academy awards are an absolute joke, and any serious film fan knows it.

I agree. Though I think them snubbing Sylvester Stallone for F.I.S.T is an even worse crime than him not getting nominated for First Blood.
If you hate the Amazing Spider-Man movies, you are on my ignore list. -

Agreed, he was excellent in F.I.S.T.

Can you name a movie with a similar theme and tone that got Oscar attention. This is in my top 10 of all time and watch it every time it is on TV so I am not dissing it.
Deer Hunter comes to mind.
Green Goblin is great! -

It's one of the Oscar's many crimes.

He threw everything into the role. You even forget during it that Stallone has played rocky, etc. you really do feel he's a real guy who's going through this whole ordeal. He played it perfectly. The last scene where he breaks down is stallones finest hour.
Just a shame he has'nt picked great acting roles since "Copland ", cause when he's pushed he's a brilliant actor. -

His performance was somewhat weird you said it yourself you found it funny at times and you're not the only person that finds that scene funny.
I don't think the last scene was Oscar material at all Stallone himself thought this movie was going to ruin his career.
In the end it's a very good movie but not worthy of an Academy Award nomination. -

Probably because it was the year of Gandhi. I also think Stallone was great in this movie, but I would have preferred if he had won an Oscar for Cop Land, where he was absolutely outstanding, instead of Jack Nicholson playing Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets.

Absolutely, 100%, I'm with you on that one. Stallone looked marvelous, there's nothing to say. In terms of acting craftsmanship and sheer cinematography, this movie reaches a new peak of professionalism and is much better than anything I saw in
The Revenant
.
Can't, I'm afraid. Matinee of

The only scene that showed his acting muscles (no pun intended) was about 5 minutes long at the end. I think the Academy didn't take the movie seriously because it was seen as an action movie and those hardly get any awards.
