I'll watch Spacehunter every time it comes on cable. I must have seen it 23 times over the years. In fact, this reminds me to get a copy in one of the various forms (dvd, blu) in which it exists.
Then Megaforce, then Metalstorm. Can't say I want either of those . . . but perhaps I should for posterity's sake.
What about Ice Pirates - can this be considered in the same vein? Frog Lady Marcia Lewis, mmmmmm, the best!
          Great posts.

"Ice Pirates" was a pretty good flick. I'd forgotten that one until you mentioned it on your post. With any luck, someone on YouTube may have uploaded that one. If so, it's due for another viewing!

              1)Flash Gordon
              2) Space Hunter
              3) Megaforce
              4) Ice Pirates
              5) The Last Starfighter
Megaforce was great! I have not seen it since I was a little kid but all these movies I watched over and over and were my first memories of having cable.

1.) Megaforce - Great theme, and the only one that's actually entertaining.
2.) Spacehunter - One word; "Chalmers"
                3.) Metalstorm - The
                other
                low budget sci-fi 3D flick from 1983.
The Force is with you young Skywalker but you are not a Jedi
                yet

Which one wins the title of the worst?
                  Metalstorm, easily.
Awful acting, awful production, awful everything.
Megaforce was surprisingly good. Very typical 80s production quality, but the acting is actually quite reasonable (I'm big on the subtlety stuff and this follows 'the handbook' rather well). I was surprised I enjoyed this one so much, but then it doesn't seemingly take itself seriously. That's where Metalstorm failed.
Spacehunter is an absolute gem. Just the amount of talent in the cast & crew and the massive films they've gone on to do speaks volumes. This would have been a proper hit, had it not been for some very bad decisions made by the studio.

                    1. "Spacehunter" - a seriously underrated sci-fi adventure.
                    2. "Metalstorm" - some good and bad moments, with decent make-up effects.
                    3. "MegaForce" - did someone edit together bloopers with deleted scenes, and call it a movie?

Haven't seen metalstorm, but Megaforce tops Spacehunter.
How do you get cheesier than Barry Bostwick as a tough guy super hero?
