the "bom bom… bom bom" was very Carpenter, that pulse thing he does in all his films… I realize that the great Ennio did the score but to me it sounds like Carpenter playing what he'd merely co-written, or something…

Well it worked cuz that was the main thing that scared me. I watched the end of Resident Evil Retribution. The gore was just as disgusting, but it didn't have the same effect as Carpenter's The Thing and that music playing in the intro and background during certain scenes.

When it comes to the Music in "
        John Carpenter's THE THING
" overall, I absolutely love it.
Some of it was even used in the Quentin Tarantino Movie "
        THE HATEFUL EIGHT
        ".

If you don't mind me asking you this question, What do you think of the Movie "
          John Carpenter's THE THING
          " itself ?
It is actually My own Number 1 Favorite Movie which is why I am asking.

Carpenter did most of the music on the synthesizer. Most of Morricone’s score went unused (and was alter reused in Tarantino’s Hateful Eight)
