Dumb bitch. He was a rabid piece of **** that kept killing people.

It is pretty rare here. The last time rabies contracted from a dog bite resulted in death in the United States was June 1979.

          Well? — 7 years ago(February 02, 2019 08:12 PM)

          Not at all.
Human rabies cases in the United States are rare, with only 1 to 3 cases reported annually. Twenty-three cases of human rabies have been reported in the United States in the past decade (2008-2017). … Nonetheless, each year between 60 to 70 dogs and more than 250 cats are reported rabid.

But there are around 80 million dogs and 90 million cats in the United States, just as pets, and around 70 million stray or feral cats. A higher rate than humans but still rare.

It's one of my least favorite books by King. The movie was done quite well. The acting was so good! The story was just too depressing. I hated all of the adults in it. The only ones I felt bad for was the dog and the poor child.
Another one that I have only been able to read only once was Pet Semetary. I have the movie. That's a film I can only watch once in a great while.
I love horror. I love gore. My problem is that I just can't handle the loss of a child in that way. My mother had to go through that when my little brother was out on his bike. He was hit by a car and died. Nothing was the same for any of us after that. Pet Semetary brings all of those emotions back.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

What a horrible thing to happen in a family. I can only imagine what your parents went through, - and you too. 😞

As a parent myself, I can only begin to imagine what my parents went through. We all eventually got through the pain, but naturally, things just weren't ever quite right. I sometimes wonder how differently things in our family might have been if that never had happened.
Sorry about this taking a serious and personal turn, but I really do believe that each of us do make a difference in the lives of everyone around us. Take one person from the equation, and life takes a whole different turn.

Agreed. And sometimes it's only a word/words from one person that makes a difference to somebody else's life.

Absolutely! You really can make or break one person's day by either smiling and saying "Hi" or not saying anything and walking past them.

Thank you. The death of a loved one always leaves a void. The death of a child is devastating. As they say, in the scheme of things, The parents should go first.
That isn't to say it is any easier for the children… even adult children. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's hard to let go, isn't it? My parents, biological and step, are all gone now. I occasionally have dreams of one or the other. It leaves me sad when I wake up. On those days though, I feel them with me closer than ever after the dreams.
There are strange times too, when I'm out and about. I will see a man who looks so much like my father, I have actually almost walked up to him to talk before I remember that he has been gone over 30 years now. There was one day when I was in a store and the lady in front of me at the checkout line looked so much like my mother. Of course, I knew that she couldn't possibly, but it was a good feeling… until she turned around. She looked nothing like her.
Pet Semetary really is a good story. Every child should lose a pet before losing people in their lives. Not that it's easier to lose a pet. In my experience, it's somewhat harder! Dying is a part of living though. It's something we need to learn to accept, and as you say, grieving is a part of the process. The memorial service also helps with closure. That was the reason for the "Semetary"
The burial ground beyond, while such a temptation, was such a cheat. When you think it over, only the weak and the selfish would try that out. Once tried, the temptation to try it again, to see if one could get it right, was just too great. Louis Creed really was damned when he buried his daughter's cat up there beyond the Semetary.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.
