Because King keeps referring to Cujo as "Brett Camber's Good Dog."

You get some of what Cujo is "thinking". He hates the way he feels and thinks that the people he attacks are the ones that made him sick.

I know. I actually felt sorry for Cujo in throughout the entire book and movie, because Cujo was a good dog. What happened to him wasn't his fault, either. He was in pain the whole time he was attacking people.
To me this story was more sad than scary.

I felt sorry for Cujo as well. He was just a poor dog inflicted with Rabies. That would turn any animal mad and deranged, including humans.

I always thought I was the only person who felt that way! I've read the book a few times and every time I feel more sorry for the dog than anyone else except the kid because he too was just a victim of circumstance.

The ending of the book tears me up every time.
                    spoilers ahead
It states that Cujo always wanted to be a good dog, that he never wanted to hurt anyone. He tried to do everything The Man and The Boy told him to do.
"He would have died for them, had that been required."
That last quote makes me cry every time.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
                    "Didn't he discover America?"
                    "Penfold, shush."

The ending tears me up too. The quote that you wrote along with
"He had never wanted to kill anybody. He had been struck by something, possibly destiny, or fate, or only a degenerative nerve disease called rabies. Free will was not a factor.

I almost teared up when Cujo got on the hood of the car, staring in through the windshield. He had a look of "Why is this happening to me?"

I agree! Poor Cujo! I haven't read the book, now I don't know if I will as it sounds downright depressing, but maybe someday. The whole film I was thinking poor Cujo, it's not his fault! 😞

I am so glad I'm not the only one who feels so sorry for Cujo every time I watch the movie. It's his owner's fault for not getting him vaccinated properly. After reading this thread, I'm not sure I want to read the book It really sounds sad.
I'm reaching for the life within me. How can one man stop his ending.

I felt more sorry for Cujo than anything else in the film. It just didn't work for me as a dog lover. Better he would've been possessed by a Satanic force or something. All I could do was to think of how sick he was and how he suffered, through no fault of his own. And why didn't the stupid owner have him vaccinated for rabies!!!! Poor Cujo.

Watching it right now and I definitely feel bad for the dog. Such a terrible thing to happen to something so innocent.
