Thought this was an excellent movie, very surprised by the low 6.1 imdb rating. Definitely thought this was by far and away one of the superior Steve Martin films. Just thought I'd vent my surprise.., thank you, you've been a great audience!

I was rather stunned too! Also stunned that you can't get a sweet, deluxe DVD in widescreen. This flick deserves the star treatment!
Ooo, baby, your domestic gross is SO BIG. That's how I know how GOOD you are!

Your comment makes no sense at all. And how sad that you only like one movie.

I enjoyed this movie alot. I liked the first half better than second half but overall the whole movie is well done and very funny.

Actually, I liked Parenthood, Roxanne, and The Man with Two Brains. I think the man is great, and Two Brains made me laugh hard enough to be in danger of an aneurysm.

LOL. Unfortunately you have to refrain from using irony around here, as most people take what you say literally.

I'm surprised, too. I love this movie.
To the other poster who said it deserves a deluxe DVD, I'm in full agreement. I notice L.A. Story has been given a 15th Anniversary Edition (why? That always seemed like one of Steve Martin's less enjoyable movies, to me), making it one of only a couple of Steve Martin movies to receive such a treatment.

im shocked it got such a low rating, especially as it ranked 35th in 'Total Film Magazine's List of the 50 Greatest Comedy Films of All Time', ahead of classics like naked gun, ghostbusters, the princess bride, and even the jerk.

How could anyone hate this movie? Martin has never been so hammy yet so pathetically likeable, which was what made him so amazing in his earlier years.

Well I gave it a 9, hopefully that'll boost it a bit. Gotta be a contender for best comedy ever in my book.

Agreed; I think the 70% at Rotten Tomatoes is more appropriate for this movie.
