Plenty of rational mature men aren't atrracted to girls young enough to be their daughters. Fifty-year-old boys may be attracted to 20-year-old girls but there's no hope for those overgrown baby men for a lot of reasons.

So, according to your narrow-minded, ideal worldview, everyone has to behave one way and one way only or else they're "creepy"?
If I didn't know better, I'd say you sounded like one of those witch hunters of the 1600s.

You are correct about Shirley MacLaine's (that her name) character, and Jack Nicholson's character, but part of the point was that they both became better people when they got involved with each other. As for Debra Winger's character:
she interrogates him in SUPREMELY CREEPY fashion to find out if he's cheating. Why bother if she even suspects it? Just dump his @ss.
Great idea, she has a young child, another on the way, and no way to make a living, but just go ahead and dump the guy.
Not to mention that she doesn't WANT to dump him, she wants him not to be cheating.
Interesting that you think it's creepy the way she "interrogates" him, but make no mention about how creepy he is, dodging her accusation that he is cheating (which she was right about), by saying she gets paranoid when she is pregnant.

Did you see her mom's house? She could just dump Flap and move back in with her (in fact, she does doesn't she?). Flap is a piece of crap.
eresting that you think it's creepy the way she "interrogates" him, but make no mention about how creepy he is, dodging her accusation that he is cheating (which she was right about), by saying she gets paranoid when she is pregnant.
Yeah, you can shove that inflammatory feminazi accusation back up from where you found it. I don't discriminate against any of the characters in this. They're all equally creepy.

Recall, when Emma learned she was pregnant with her third child and asked her mother for money, her mother wouldn't even do that for her. Her mother was not going to let her move back with a bunch of kids. Not to mention, Emma would be too proud to ask, after her mother had warned against marrying Flap in the first place.
And as I noted, Emma doesn't WANT to leave flap. She just doesn't want him to be cheating.
And no, Emma didn't move back with her mother. She took the kids for a visit. I thought it was clear when she headed to TX that it was a visit. It certainly was clear when Flap called and told her they were moving to Nebraska, and she went right back to get ready for the move.

Sorry you found it inflammatory and feminazi LOL. Apparently it's "feminazi" to state a fact you mentioned what Emma did in that scene, but not what Flap did. Yes, she DID come across as creepy, but there is a context. People tend to get a little crazy when they know they are being lied to and the other person won't admit it, and instead try to make it about them that they're paranoid. It's not paranoia when there really is something going on. That was quite low on Flap's part.
I don't discriminate against any of the characters in this. They're all equally creepy.
Thanks for clarifying.
