        Amen!
Mark my words, when Streisand dies, the Academy will honor her with a best director Oscar.

How can she get a directing Oscar for something she hasn't even directed?

They sometimes give these honor Oscars. What are they called again?

It would be an honorary Oscar, but not for directing, unless she was in-competition. I don't think they honor deceased artists either, usually a Jean Hersholt-lifetime achievement award.

Snub for what? Acting, directing, producing? 1983 was an exceptionally strong year for female performances and Streisand wasn't as believable as those that were nominated. Her direction of her script was very good; but the film was also overlong, a bit boring in parts and it was also a vanity project. In spite of her talent, it only enhanced how narcissistic and self-centered she really is. It was all about me, me, me.
She worked hard on Yentl and put a lot of passion and effort into it, but it was really just a film designed for her obsessive fan base. If it was genuinely snubbed, it would be considered a forgotten classic today and have a bigger or even cult following. It doesn't.
Streisand got snubbed for a reason and while I think The Prince Of Tides-91' could have benefited from a more sprawling and fleshed out script, she did do a worthy job of directing here. As a film, I also prefer The Mirror Has Two Faces-96' over both Yentl and Tides.
